Welcome To Cereal - Community Information
Located in Southeastern Alberta, the Village of Cereal is located along Highway 9, and was named for the abundance of cereal crops that were grown in the area at the birth of the community. Over the last few years, a resurgence of development has added new employment and interest to this quiet community. The Cereal Prairie Pioneer Museum tells the story of the depression days in the region and chronicles the life and times of early settlers in Canada’s West. Cereal Brochure (PDF) Cereal Community Profile CJ Peacock Centre CJ Peacock School was closed in 2007. The community was left with a large facility that could either be boarded up or put to use. The community selected the latter. The idea was born to create a community centre out of the empty school and CJ Peacock Centre opened its doors. The centre is now home to the Village Office, a public gym, public library and business incubator and there are plans for much more. Proud Home of Girletz Rodeo Stock With owners Kevin, Ray, and Randy Girletz at the helm, this Rodeo Stock Company is known for it’s high quality Buckin’ Bulls. Born and raised near Cereal, the three brothers have made careers and successful businesses for themselves. Many of the Girletz kids are involved in the operation and may continue the rodeo tradition for years to come. ![]() |
