Located in Southeastern Alberta, the Village of Empress is located just off of Alberta Highway 41 and over looks, the Forks of the South Saskatchewan and Red Deer Rivers. Empress has Artisans! This interesting community has attracted a community of artisans that adds flavor and interest to this small farming community. Quiet and truly rural, this little community is a great place to spend some time. Historic buildings and wide open roadways create an open and welcoming vista for visitors and residents. Empress has Artisans! Empress has developed quite a reputation for art. Just the location of this village has inspired many an artist, poet and photographer, so it’s not surprising that so many artist call Empress their home. Travelers can find a variety of artwork in Empress. Once a year, Artisans Open house is stage in Empress where local artists band together, creating events that attract thousands of people to the area. Attendees can take a tour and see local native art, fine hand crafted furniture, quilt makers, photographers, crafts, landscape artists and much more. This is an annual event that is traditionally staged the first weekend in June. Well worth the trip! ![]() |
